The Mark & Jeff Morning Show on WPHM interview Vince Cataldo, Founder & Principal of Infuz Ltd., Architects, regarding adaptive reuse/restoration and new construction projects happening throughout St. Clair County. Projects include The Inn on Water Street, St. Clair Inn, Harrington Inn, and The Cadillac House.
Vince talks about the interesting discovery that occurs during some of these historic restorations, referring to the puzzle-like process similar to "putting Humpty Dumpty back together". Utilizing Historic Tax Credits has been one avenue for securing funding for these historic projects at the state and federal levels. But restoration is only one part of the equation in these historically sensitive buildings. Thoughtful consideration is necessary for the integration of new systems in order to provide comfort and sustainability to modern day users. The $40 million restoration of the St. Clair Inn is one example of a project taking advantage of PACE funding to finance advanced underground geothermal heating and cooling systems and rooftop mounted solar arrays. Implementing state-of-the-art technology is an important part of our design process.
